The foot-push starter rod was on earlier B's, the hand-pull starter rod was on later ones. Easiest way to check is to look at the underside of the gas tank - B tractors with the hand-pull rod had a slight crease or dent in the right-hand underside to help accomodate the pull-type starter rod. My 1950 B was a foot-push system, so I would guess - and it's only a guess - you're looking at 1953 or later for the hand-pull.

Thanks Bryan:

I guess I am going to have to check the serial number to detrmine the year. I believe the tractor is from the 40's.

I appreciate the information.
