Douger,

You're correct the the electrical systems in the early AC's (as well as others) are 6V positive ground. It does look kinda goofy with the positive post attached to the steering column...
Should be okay if you switched it back. If your fuel tank starts to leak again (or is still a little) if you have a good radiator man near you, some radiator shops repair leaky fuel tanks. I had the tank on my "B" repaired by my radiator guy and he did a fabulous job. If you only have one small spot that's leaking, there's a product called JB Weld which works great fixing fuel tank leaks, cracked blocks etc. Good Luck with your new toy, the "C's" are great machines...
