A search of the archives brought up a list of nearly every other model of AC, all 1-2-4-3, and none of them CCW, so I guessed it to be a safe bet that the D14 was the same.

When daylight hit, I confirmed that none of the wires had "migrated", and found that the distributor was so far advanced that it was firing back through the carburetor. I backed it up nearly 15-degrees (or, "a lot", by the measuring device I had.) It purrs like a kitten now, and runs so smooth it won't even vibrate nuts and bolts off the gas tank!

-Now if I only knew where to look for the timing mark, I'd be able to tell if my timing-light agrees with my ear!

(I couldn't resist a ride around the yard. That "hi-nowhere-low" lever is a pretty nifty feature!)

Don, i dont know nuthing about a D14, but my book says to remove the plug on the torque tube just behind the motor (i bet it looks at the flywheel, right?) it says the top dead center mark may be marked "center" on the flywheel. also has an advance mark "Fire". early models were 30 degrees, later units were 25 degrees. hope this helps.

I got interrupted with an emergency trench-digging project at my brother's, so I'll check that out tonight. (I've gotta remember to buy a flashlight today, too.)
