Ditto on JDGnut's post. The WD45 Diesel used the 6BD-230 Buda 6. Allis bought Buda in 1955, so it was a logical choice. Allis also bought Gleaner in 1955 and began using this engine and its gas counterpart, the 6B-230, on the model A (and AII, I believe the C and CII used the 262). Both engines used the same block, making modern day diesel-to-gas conversions a bolt-in affair (for the most part - given that finding a 230 gas or diesel is good condition is darn near impossible). Same goes for the D262 (used in the D17D and D19D) and G262 (used in D19G). I restored a D17 Series III a couple of years ago with a 262 6-cyl gas. Nice tractor. Back to the 230, a guy advertised a 230 gas for sale on the Allis forum a while back. It was off of a Gleaner combine and supposedly in good, running condition.
