You didn't say if this was a new (to you) setup or if the motor had been running normal and now it's heating, but check all the cheap things first, as RS suggests. Rad fins dirty, clogged with dust/sawdust? (shine light thru at night); hoses good inside? belt turning fan? if new setup, and has no fan shroud, does it look like it had one? Rad cleaned how (remove and rod out? cleaner in water?). Can you see inside rad with cap off to see if circulation coming in from water pump? Some engines need thermostat to run normally (yes, some do). Any discoloration in water/oil as evidence of headgasket leak of comb gases into water? Is engine in stream of already hot air from other machinery/exhaust? Let us know about the above so we can make better guesses. I think I have a 6BK manual; I'll try to find it to see what it says about thermostat. Good luck.
