Thanks everyone. We are in far northeast Iowa near the town of Castalia which is about 15 miles south east of Decorah and we are about 45 miles west of Prairie Du Chien Wisconsin. We are in Winneshiek county. The farm has been in my family since 1888.

The chicken tractors were ones we built earlier this summer from mostly scraps and were somewhat of our own design and somewhat from plans in one of my wife's books. They did work well for raising the three groups chicks my wife hatched out earlier this year. I think we are going to use them more as a portable coop next summer and fence the chickens out around them. Too difficult to move with the birds still in them. I have seen many diffent styles of chicken tractors, these are ours. Love the one pictured! Bet the grandkids love it.

Sorry but the WC does not have a hydrant installed in the rear. lol Although I could see the handiness of that! That is my most recent purchase. I was at an auction and I thought it was selling cheap, you know the rest. We already have four other WCs, not sure if that one will stay or not.

The road is to the west the farm about half a mile. I know the picture doesn't show it but that was taken on top of the hill looking down. Long gentle grade down and the next hill is a near drop off.

Jim

Today's Featured Article - An Old-Time Tractor Demonstration - by Kim Pratt. Sam was born in rural Kansas in 1926. His dad was a hard-working farmer and the children worked hard everyday to help ends meet. In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer. It was an Allis-Chalmers tractor dealership, ... [Read Article]
