Goodmorning everyone!!
So, here's my latest project. I got this truck in 2011 and I really like it. I'd planned on doing a dual bumper build on it literally since the day we picked it up, but never actually sat down and did it...
Then I started school and couldn't just take the truck out of comission for a week or two, since I'd need something to do my 70-mile-a-day commute with. But then... Christmas break came around. Two weeks off, my buddy Wes (who I took welding classes in high school with, and worked on many projects since with) happened to be coming home from college for a few weeks, and the salvage steel yard lowered their prices on flat material by 7 cents per pound.
The stars all lined up in a row, and I decided it was now or never.
I bought $175 worth of steel, "D" rings, some mig wire, paint and a few other things and when both bumpers are done, I expect to be in this project $300-$400 in total.
I dove headfirst into this project without any form of a written plan or idea on how it'd turn out. I figured we'de just start cutting plate, and welding it together an hoped for the best... I had a few ideas in my head about how I wanted it to look, but I decided to just build as I go. Whether or not it looks like I originally imagined wasn't important to me, as long as it was cool. So far, I'm very happy with how things are going...
Its been a lot of work, which means a lot of video material :)
Its a really fun project... I've built now three sets of bumpers, and I like this set the most, simply because we have free reign to build it however we feel... No pictures to go off... No customers to communicate the details with, just cutting and welding.
I've got the first two videos up... Hope y'all enjoy them... and have an awesome weekend. I've got a lot more to do, I'm off to the garage now, after coming in around 3 this morning. This must be DONE by Monday when I go back to school. Enjoy everyone, Yeeeeeeehaw!! :)
