Red Pete, We have 2 Springfield's, first one we bought was the longslide in a 45, right after, we bought another 5" 1911 Springfield Armory. Neither one is a disappointment, both shoot extremely well.We can put 8 in a target about the size of a tennis ball at 78 feet.My son carries his longslide for a ccw in a shoulder holster and in outside waist holster.Mine is getting a little heavy for CCW for me,but I can do it on good days. We tried to find a Ruger 1911,but they were about as plenty as hens teeth.looked for over 4 months and they had a waiting list on them over 1 yr.We just happened to come across the SA in a remote gun store. Laid the money down and bought the gun,not unhappy at all. Really like the lifetime warranty on SA. Tried a couple of Colts in the gun shop, just didn't fit right in our hand. All other higher priced pistols felt like the SA's,but couldn't justify the higher price for bragging rights.Just keep looking, I'm sure you'll find the one that will suit you.Happy hunting, thats the most fun,get to handle alot of pistols without paying the price until you find one your happy with.As long as it suits your needs, thats all that matters. Regards LOU

My wife who works at a local school, and only has weekends and summers off, while on t
