Sam Wigeon, I've tried freezing them, zapping them with a mig welder. The best thing you can do with a dewalt, or for that matter, any Ni-cd battery is get rid of them. I'm not a fan of the expensive Li-ion batteries either. Very expensive and don't hold half the charge of a Ni-Metal, NiMH. I have two Li-ion batteries and 2 Ni-metal. A 4 year old Ni-metal will out last 2 Li-ion. BTW, the price of Ni-metals on ebay are close to the price of an old Ni-cd. You need the newer charger, it will charge both Li-ions and Ni-Mh.
