That stuff is a high-wear copper based alloy and it is pretty expensive. I would call around to other scrap dealers and see if you can get a feel for what the AMM (american metal market) price would be. That would give you a feel for how far off you are with the steel price offer. One of the more interesting uses for this alloy is in the gun on the F-18. The gatling gun barrell runs on beryllium copper bearings for support. I know this because I worked on a McDonnell Douglass project to convert the guide tube and the blast diffuser from stainless steel to titanium alloy for the next-generation F-18 E/F Super Hornet. It"s also used in pistons that pump liquid aluminum into the die-cast machines. High wear resistance and good high-temperature performance.
