The red face refers to some SA 200 pipeliners that had a red face plate on it instead of the aluminum colored one under the rheostat and heat range switch. They had round generator laminations and are prefered by a lot of welders for pipeline work. Them and the short hooded ones are the ones they want. The short hooded welders had the round generator laminations too.
