Last year I replaced my ’80 model 1250 Cub Cadet with a new 20 hp 2300 series… the new one is pretty and cuts well… but I have to admit it isn’t in the league with the old 1250. the tractor and deck are in good shape for a 20 year old mower but the engine is smoking terribly… this is the second engine and has about 5 years of weekly use on it (in dusty environment. A new engine is around 800 bucks and I don’t want to put that much in the mower… My question…. What to do with this good old mower ??? I don’t know of any engine rebuilders around here (birmingham, al) that I would recommend... and that don't want nearly as much to rebuild as a new one … is there a market for old mowers like this for parts where I wouldn’t just be giving it away ??? anyone got a 12 hp Kohler for this mower ??? Thanks john
