My dad has one of these in Iowa. Same deal, Kohler started using oil and smoking, and it has been parked for years now. There is a place here in MN that puts 2 cylinder engines (20hp)in them for about $6-800 and they are a lot more smooth. Great mower, but it sure was rough with that single cylinder. I am considering doing this and just use it as a compact tractor to haul small load of hay to the horses / etc. Also, possibly more snow if I could find a snowblower for it. It's built heavy and is handy with the hydro. tranny. You may just need to get creative and find a reason to keep it.
