YT just had the second largest outage it's had in it's time. Century Link lost a fiber cable and our entire county was out of communications from this morning until a few minutes ago. The way I understand it, something to do with a truck somehow slicing the fiber cable. How that could happen I don't know. What's surprising is that such a major outage could occur after the last 11 years of preparation for redundancy, you wouldn't think that one cable could take out an entire county.
YT servers have been idling all day only able to talk to the computers in the warehouse, they haven't been down, but no one could get to them. I'll be checking everything over to make sure that there were no casualties from their inactivity (the software equivalent of a "shelf life"). So far so good.
