Orange peel can be an issue a the paint does dry faster. Seems to me that it is a LITTLE less likely to run. Believe me, you can still have runs, but they are a bit tougher to cause. If you google orange peel, you can find what causes it. I can't recall if it's from not thinning correctly or not applying enough paint??? As far as reducer, I still find it confusing. Slow, fast, hot, warm, cool... I use NAPA reducer and John Deere paint. I heat the shop and contents to about 75 degrees then start painting. After an hour or so (depending on outside temp) the exhaust fan has sucked out most of the heat and most of the fumes. It's usually down to about 55. I use the Cool reducer and this seems to work fine for me as I only paint in the winter. As far as paint usage, overspray is less. Overall paint usage for me could be quite a bit less if I could get the hang of the gravity feed gun. I started painting with a siphon gun and I can't for the life of me get comfortable with a gravity gun. So, there's always some wasted paint. Learning curve? Gotta learn not to step on the hose or not to drag it across already painted parts. I may never learn that. I really like the HVLP system and I think you would too. I'm sure there are professional painters on here that can shoot holes in everything I've said but for what I do, this system is great.
