Does anyone have any experience with the TPTools sprayer at this link? Good or bad? Is it worth the money? This would be used to spray tractor parts.
Thanks. Paul

I bought one almost 10 years ago and couldn't be happier with it. I'd never painted anything before, but I've produced several jobs that draw lots of compliments. I think you'll like it. Great company and good support if you need parts/supplies.

Its funny - I get on YT forum to post the same question. I am thinking of buying the same system to paint a Farmall F12 and then an H.

I am finding that you will use more reducer or a slower reducer??

Did you have any problems with it drying too fast or orange peel?

Does it use less paint and mainly - is there truly less overspray?

Is there a big learning curve with this system?

I have used a conventional gun in the past with overspray everywhere.

Thanks

Orange peel can be an issue a the paint does dry faster. Seems to me that it is a LITTLE less likely to run. Believe me, you can still have runs, but they are a bit tougher to cause. If you google orange peel, you can find what causes it. I can't recall if it's from not thinning correctly or not applying enough paint??? As far as reducer, I still find it confusing. Slow, fast, hot, warm, cool... I use NAPA reducer and John Deere paint. I heat the shop and contents to about 75 degrees then start painting. After an hour or so (depending on outside temp) the exhaust fan has sucked out most of the heat and most of the fumes. It's usually down to about 55. I use the Cool reducer and this seems to work fine for me as I only paint in the winter. As far as paint usage, overspray is less. Overall paint usage for me could be quite a bit less if I could get the hang of the gravity feed gun. I started painting with a siphon gun and I can't for the life of me get comfortable with a gravity gun. So, there's always some wasted paint. Learning curve? Gotta learn not to step on the hose or not to drag it across already painted parts. I may never learn that. I really like the HVLP system and I think you would too. I'm sure there are professional painters on here that can shoot holes in everything I've said but for what I do, this system is great.

JRB -

I would like to chat more about this product and the learning curve. Don't want to waste everyone's elses time here.

Please and I can ask more if you don't mind.

Thanks

I have the small tp hvlp turbine and I wish I had never bought it. If the air was cool it would probably work great. Even using slow reducer it dries the primer so fast that on a hot day it turns to a powder on the surface. That was with red oxide primer. Epoxy primer didn't do that. I'm no painter, just do it as a hobby. I've only used single stage paint and it does okay but I think the warm air has a negative effect. May have more to do with my inexperience.
