I have an oliver 1850D that I'm trying to get the temp gauge to work. Last year I bought an aftermarket gauge from one of the tractor sites and it didn't read right, it would only come slightly off the lower peg when you turn on the key, but never get out of the cool region. I put an automotive gauge on and it is the same deal, always cool. I took the gauge off my Dad's 1850, put it on mine and it read fine, so I know that the sending unit is fine. What I'm thinking is that Oliver and automotive style sending units have different resistance so you have to the corresponding gauge for them to register correctly. I wouldn't mind having an automotive gauge in there so I can actually see what temps are since I have it turboed, but what do you guys do in this scenario, and who do you get your gauges from? Am I on the right track?
