JoeN'Mo.........the "clunk" you hear/feel is the SOFT cast spline'd hub. It is NOT yer HARD axle. The 8N has a BIG NUT that is supposed to be torqued to 450-ft/lbs. Iff'n the nut is not kept tight, guess what??? yer spline'd will wear and klunk. New HUB is about $70 (cheap) While yer futtzin', try the same push'me-pull'you trick on yer left axle and watch yer WASHER behind yer BIG NUT ........Dell
