Fuddy Duddy 01-31-2013 09:59:24 75.249.71.23 Report to Moderator	When you looka t wheel base in tractor specs they give the wheel base length. I'm guessing that is the length from fount axle to rear axle. Is that correct? What I really need id the distance from out side the rear tires. Need to know if the will fit on my trailer. I'm seeing some ,what I think, really good deals in my area on some tractors. All seem to be hard to pass up. May post on them tomorrow. Some may already been sold and their ads just not removed. Still looking for one to hang a little Ditch Witch back hoe from. But always looking for any 'Good Deal' [Reply]   [No Email]

I heard a "clunk" in the right rear wheel. When I pushed against the top of the tire I could feel "play". I've taken the wheel off and pulled the axle out. There was no oil on the brake drum, and no oil on the outside of the wheel. The bearing looks good - no missing rollers and it doesn't make noise when I spin it. Should I replace it anyway? It is NOT yer HARD axle. The 8N has a BIG NUT that is supposed to be torqued to 450-ft/lbs. Iff'n the nut is not kept tight, guess what??? yer spline'd will wear and klunk. New HUB is about $70 (cheap) While yer futtzin', try the same push'me-pull'you trick on yer left axle and watch yer WASHER behind yer BIG NUT ........Dell [Reply]  [No Email]

Since the 8N's tractor wheel WIDTH is adjustable, it varies from 42" to 76". Most common is 56". Generally, front width is set to rear width, but not always. Plowing is different. Remember, back-hoes have "out-riggers" that can stick outside the trailer bed iff'n yer not careful. I bought a 16-ft flatbed trailer and have no problems with my EXTRA-WIDE 16.9x24 rear tires. ........Dell [Reply]  [No Email]
