If i were GUESSING i would bypass one of the resistors. but that would be a guess without knowing all the particulars like bruce says. I would ask the fellow if it ran after he installed the electronic ignition/when the problem started etc. I have a old ferguson fifty to rewire,for a neighbor .he converted it to a alternator and was running it, when a wire started smoking. instead of pulling the battery cable off he just yanked all the wires out.if he werent a friend of my son i wouldnt mess with it.
