You can jump a 6v starter with a 12v system , ie truck and jumper cables .
DO NOT hook the jumpers up to the 6 volt battery , turn the ignition "on" so the coil has 6v power , attach the positive jumper to the frame , touch the lug on the starter with the negative jumper cable .
As long as the solenoid is not activated the starter is not in the active 6v system and the 12v will not back feed into the 6v system .
If you are still unsure about it , you can remove the cable from the starter so it is not hooked up to the 6v system at all .
