Floyd........surprizingly enuff, Starter motor don't care, 6-or-12v positive or negative ground, 12-volts on 6-volt starter just SPINS FASTER. Its a sometimes band-aide for worn-out engine. Gitta real 12-volt ignition coil (NO RESISTORS) NAPA IC-14SB ($15, cheap) Pay attention to coil polarity (molded in top of coil) rule is (-) to (-). Surprizingly enuff, starter solenoid don't care, 6-or-12v positive or negative ground. Surprizingly enuff, headlites DO CARE, use 12-volt headlite bulbs, ($5, cheap) Also yer dashboard armored meterlite needs new 12v bulb ($1, cheap) 12v taillite bulbs ($1, cheap) and NO, you should NOT have to clean yer ignition points every 8-hrs (8-yrs maybe). Your distributor shaft seal is worn-out and entire distributor needs to be rebuilt. Kit $25 (cheap) NEW DISTRIBUTOR $250, yer call..........Dell, a 12-volt advocate for the right reason That said, I haven't found the right reason for my eazy starting 6-volt 8N, and I know how to do it right the FIRST time. If fact, I know 8-ways to do it right and they ALL work.
