Iím a bit confused on a solenoid problem. My tractor is a 12 volt conversion with a negative ground. The solenoid starts the tractor if you push the manual button on the front of it, but if I wire it to my push button ground by the gear shift lever, nothing happens. I tested the ground button by hooking a test light from it to the positive battery terminal, and when I push the button it lights up just fine.
The only way I can get the solenoid to fire is move the wire from the push button ground and touch the wire to the POSITIVE battery terminal.
What am I missing, and how should I fix this? Thanks for your advice.
