Body of Message:
My first experiance with the magic ford four wheel lift was when I was about 13 years old in 1948 when my brother in law who was just a couple of years out of the army and WW2 where amoung other things he was very much involved in the invasion of Normandy and a few days later got caught in the battle of the Bulge. All he wanted to do was to live a war free life and farm the land.
So he and his daddy bought the first Ford tractor I had ever seen. It was brand new and I'll never forget the thrill I had when the dealer brought it to the farm on the back of a F600 Ford truck and backed it up to a ditch bank and rolled it off. It was a beauty to behold no doubt!
The first thing we did was to go over the owners manual and check and grease the whole tractor etc. Then the next morning we took it out to the field beside the house with that two disc Seico turning plow hooked to the back end. It was simply amazing to watch that soil roll over bottom side up.
After the land was prepared for planting the wheels had to be widened for the planter-cultivator.
That's when Jimmy came out of the shed with this pile of pipes and rods and a little chain that looked like a dog chain all painted a bright red.
He got out the trusty owners manual and hooked the lift arms to the cross rod and the leaned the little funny shaped thing up under the front of the oil pan at the axle support and told all of us lookers on to stand back "I'm going to lift all four wheels off the ground at once" Naturally we all knew that you can't lift all four wheels of a tractor off the ground at one time but we all got back just in case the whole thing busted and stuff started flying.
Jimmy started the 8N and with the lift in position mode he gradually lifted up on the touch control handle and low and behold all four wheels of that tractor started to come off the ground all at once.
Believe or don't. It really happened!
Wish I had a picture of the look on our faces!

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: Electronic Ignition - by Staff. Oil, for example has come a long way in the last 50 years and I don't use anything but the latest API grade available. I've heard the arguments for non-detergent oils but would never trade it for today's formulations. Paint is another, the modern acrylic enamels are great for resistance to grease and fuel stains, retaining their shine and they last forever; unlike enamels and lacquers . Still another is the alternator. No doubt using the original generator keeps the tractor pure, but for thos ... [Read Article]
