This is a common problem with the 8N lift. It is caused by wear and tear damage from the battereing that the top link give the draft linkage over time. If the quadrant adjustment is not at it's maximum forward position already you can sometimes make it work by moving the quadrant backwards on it's mounting bolts. This however changes the position control adjustment too and may make the lift no longer have proper position control. I make a jig and illustrated booklet to allow the proper adjustment of the lift system. See the link below for information.
