Hi LC: Andy posted about our balers and I would like to thank you for responding with such sound advice. Yes, the problem was one end knotting, one end just sliding through. We have always used sisal so that wasn't a factor. We did file the beak down, seemed to help at first and then just got dreadfully worse. Finally, when we were able to spend the time with it, we rotated the power take-off (fly-wheel) with a pry bar and were able to watch it go through its movements very slowly. It became evident that the swing-arm assembly was not adjusted properly to push the twine together with the other end and form the knot. This arm was tightened and miracuously it knotted perfectly. We haven't been able to really test it fully as we aren't ready to bale until tomorrow - but here's hoping that has finally fixed the problem. I hope you can understand how I described it to you - you never know - you may find the information useful one day. Thanks again for your helpful response. Enjoy your summer. Susan
