Try straight 40 weight oil. Is it really firing on four cylinders? The starting engine should be able to rotate the diesel under compression continuously with 0F outside temperatures. Many times I see starting engines at shows that are claimed to be 100% but will only slam start the diesel if your hand eye coordination is quick.
