The two pronged forks rings a bell. The tedder I used as a boy, many years ago had six or eight forks with springs to allow them to tip back if they hit anything solid. Each fork had a bearing on the back side that fitted on a shaft that looked like a big but not very heavy engine crankshaft. This shaft was parallel to the axle shaft and driven by a chain. I don't know who made it but we must have bought it between 1910 and 1920
