You should note... his post said Vermont, not the plains of Kansas. There is very likely to have been a Kverneland distributor in the area... as I'm sure the plow is still used a fair bit there. It is used a LOT in Quebec, directly north by a couple of hours and used in abundance to the east. The primary reason being that anyone who still plows wants a plow with automatic resets and probably variable width bottoms. The fact that a couple of you point out that nobody plows anymore because they're using no-till suggests that you're out of the loop on this one.
The way I look at it, if he can find a Kverneland plow in his area, reasonably priced for what he needs... that's what he should buy. If he can't find one... it's all moot. Parts availability would be of no consequence to me. One call to a Kubota dealer will probably find the parts. If not track down who the nearest distributor is... and have the parts courioured from a dealer. If you're stuck... Molboro parts are readily available. Again, these plows are still actively produced in some numbers; parts are readily available in their network. The same is not so likely to be said for most of the former US manufacturers of plows. They'll have parts as long as there's sufficient turnover to justify stocking them at the warehouse level. After that... inventory will be bled out... and good luck to you. I never had any trouble getting parts for my old David Brown plows until the day came that they wern't available anymore. That wasn't a big space of time either.
I don't see anything wrong with going and buying the MF plow he asked about... but to me, given all probability........ Kverneland parts will be available long after the MF plow is gone to the chinaman's furnace. Not to mention that for most sod type work the european plows are far superiour anyway. There's a reason they persevered over the others.
