Anyone have any experience with the belt drive New idea hay rakes? I'm probably going to buy one so I can retire my old steel wheel IH rake before it falls apart. I found one for $300 that looks to be in good shape, except most of the paint has turned to rust. It has a big round belt to drive from a pulley on the axle, and the belt looks good. I've been looking for a NH style side delivery rake for a while, but they're too far out of my price range for the little that I would be using it on my 5 acre field. I'm going to try swathing my field with a sickle mower instead of windrowing with a mower/conditioner, as I've had problems getting the clover/grass/alfalfa mix to dry in windrows. Any advice for raking into windrows?
