i used to use a john deere pto.sheller. cant remember the number,but sold it. if i was going to do it again,i would get an old 2 row self propelled cobine and take off the head and fix a box to shovel corn into. it seemed the sheller would break down on a whim. for a little more than what you would pay for a pto sheller you can get a usable combine with both heads and for be able to combine your beans ,wheat,oats or some corn if you have drying facilities ,or wait till late in the year when it dries down as much as you feel comfortable with before shelling and hauling to the grain terminal. and like i said fix a box on the front that you can shovel the ear corn into to shell out of the crib. just keep the cobs and chaff pulled away from the back of the combine and be carefull around the feeder housing where you will be shoveling the corn into. i saw a article on a farmer shelling out of the crib this way in farm show magazine! good luck!or maybe you can get a neighbor with a combine to do it and save the cost of the combine.
