joel 143-is a tecumseh engine its a 12 volt tractor neg ground.the pin in the rear is the release lever for the hydro. in postion is in gear no push. pin out and locked you can push it around.don't loose the hair pin put in the out most position of the pin when it is in the pin so you wont loose it.no oil check for this transmisson.it is sealed.there is a filter in the transmission but you will never change it.the serial number.under the seat there should be a tag with the model serial no.if its the same seat that came with the tractor. also some times they put the tag below the seat on the panel that goes over the rear tires.some time they put the tag a bove the the hitch also.when you see 917- that tells you that its.its a ayp-american yard products tractor.
