Dwight, The tractor model# and serial # should be on the model # plate which also doubles a the shift patten diagram located around the shifting lever. The numbers that I was refering to were the seperate engine serial & model #'s which is loacted on a plate on the front side of the shroud. As far as the year, in all honesty, I'm not entirely sure. I'm only relying on what the previous owner related to me. My grandfather had a 72 and was pretty close to this one in assembly so the 74 year seemed to make sense. Whenever possible, I try to buy aftermarket parts as they are usually cheaper then going through sears. Items such as belts are off-the shelf items that you can get at Auto supply stores. I belive a lot of the bearings are the same way. I appreciate you imput, Dwight. I hope I was abble to answer your questions Brian
