Brian,

I also have an SS12. It has a grader blade mounted underneith and has been used for landscaping since we got it 15 years ago.

When I rebuilt the engine I simply went to my local air cooled engines suppy house and told them I had the Techumseh HH120. This seemed to be enough info for them to order the gaskets etc that I needed. I have a Tecumseh horizontal shaft engine manual that covers the HH120 (also from the local supply house).

Your e-mail comes in a timely fashion. I went to order a traction drive belt from Sears the other day and found that they have centralized parts ordering and the operators know nothing unless you provide a 143 number. I have never been able to locate the Sears number on my tractor and I have no idea what year it is. In the past I have always told them that it is a Roper model 762M and that has done the trick - not any more! I ended up buying a Dayco Lawn and Garden Belt, number L582 ($21.00), as suggested by my air cooled shop. Works well.

Some questions for you:

1. Where is the Sears number located on the tractor?
2. Is the year and serial number printed on the same plate?

Thanks,

Dwight
