If you give your email address, I can send you a PDF of the 1964 Bolens brochure. It gives the specs for the 800 and the 900, which shows BOTH of them having an 8.25 horse Wisconsin engine.
The 1964 800 is the subject of a lot of confusion. Part of it because Bolens made a mistake in a list that they made available which called the model 188 a 900, and they never corrected it.
The 800 and 900 were almost identical. The engine, trans, etc. were all identical. The only thing different was the 900 had a fiberglass seat pan/fender and larger wheels/tires.
In the last three years I've been learning a LOT about the Bolens tube frames and large frames, and currently own 13 of them. All are tube frames or large frames except for my 1964 Estate Keeper articulated.
