Try cleaning off flywheel cover & look on all sides of same closely in sunlight or with a bright light,on some mod briggs eng the mod,type & serial numbers are stamped into flywheel cover,although sometimes briggs stamping leaves a little to be desired.As far as swaping coils from another eng this is something you'll have to try or IF you have mod#'s of both eng goto partstree,or outdoordistributors online & lookup coil pn for each in eng parts listings to see if the're the same pn,many times the coil will look the same but depending on age/mod# of eng coil you are trying to swap may not work due to fact some older mod eng had reverse polarity on flywheel magnets.
