My 1966 2000 was losing power so I decided to clean or replace all fuel filters. The one in the fuel tank and the carb were pretty clean but the fuel pump filter was plugged almost completely. I opted to replace the fuel pump instead of rebuild. I also took off the carb and soaked it in carb cleaner for a few days as it was kind of cruddy. Put it back together and it won"t start (it was running fine before I took it apart). It is getting a good spark and seems to be getting gas. It fires briefly with a shot of starting fluid but won"t run.
So I am wondering if there is a step I missed?
Does the float chamber need to be primed? Looks like there is a drain plug at the bottom.
There is only one needle valve ( which I never touched). Is there a standard or beginning setting?
