Hello JMOR , The Torque Limiter is basically a larger version of the slip clutch on bush hog mower . The Torque Limiter will slip at 525 foot pounds of torque hopefully before you snap an axle or twist off a u-joint . They first came into production in August 1958 . As Ford and aftermarket loaders were getting stronger and guys were installing bigger buckets that was the beginning of the abuse they could throw at them and 99% of the guys NEVER have enough counterweight on the back of their tractors to keep the rear wheels on the ground so that also loads the front drive more than it should be . The Torque Limiter is an Elenco Design and was patented so no other parts fit them , sometimes repairable many times not I make some parts for them . The faced drive plates have always been the problem to reproduce , mostly old tech no longer used and or rarely used today (spraying molten bronze on a cast iron plate, similar to spray welding a crankshaft) , IE EXPENSIVE . Thanks Tony
