Success seems to be about 50-50 on rebuilding those infernal Holleys. Count us in the failed department - and I"ve got a lot of successful rebuilds in my past and am only too familiar with finding carbs that are sensitive to 1/64" or even 1/128" float changes.
As I"ve written in other posts, we made the (expensive) switch to Zenith. Easier starting, better/smoother throttle response, and the choke is used only fort starting now. What pushed me over the edge was reading this post from Zane, a much-respected Ford wrench on this and the N board. http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ford&th=317519 (if the link doesn"t work, type in Zane Holley into the search window)
BTW, there are two types of Zeniths, one for "65-"68 and another for post-"68.
