If it cranks good and you have good spark (you said you did), and your compression is ok, then it has to be fuel or air. The manifold hole could be a factor; maybe it has grown. Or it could be flooded. As a quick test, rap the side of the carb with a block of wood or dead blow hammer and see if it frees up the needle in the carb, hopefully eliminating any flooding. If that doesn't work, remove the intake hose and squirt a little starter fluid into the carb as you crank it over and see if it fires. Don't choke it.
