The pumps are basically the same, main difference is the TO30 Pump had "O" Rings and was cast iron The TO20 Pump had a lower pressure and gaskets & was alloy. The Control Valve and Oscillator, you need the Control Valve and the Oscillator is there to rock the Control Valve to prevent it sticking, so it is better to have it. It is better to have the Shield for the Safety Valve as it prevents the crud in the bottom being stirred up when the Valve discharges. If you don't have one you can make one, by just making a plate with a hole for the Valve and bending it at right angles so that it covers the holes in the bottom of the Valve, nothing too fancy about it..
