I see from my shop manual I was sold a TO 20 pump
for my TO30. The drawings show a control valve &
oscillator drive for the 30. Do I need this?
Do I needtherelief valve shield? Where would I find
such critters?
HELP

No. The control valve for a TO-20 will work fine with the control fork for a TO-30. The shield isn"t needed either. Look at all the TO-20"s running around without those. Main thing is keep the hydraulic oil clean and flush the transmission case out good while your changing the pumps to remove as much dirt and grit as possible. Then you should have trouble free service for years.

The pumps are basically the same, main difference is the TO30 Pump had "O" Rings and was cast iron
The TO20 Pump had a lower pressure and gaskets & was alloy.
The Control Valve and Oscillator, you need the Control Valve and the Oscillator is there to rock the Control Valve to prevent it sticking, so it is better to have it. It is better to have the Shield for the Safety Valve as it prevents the crud in the bottom being stirred up when the Valve discharges. If you don't have one you can make one, by just making a plate with a hole for the Valve and bending it at right angles so that it covers the holes in the bottom of the Valve, nothing too fancy about it..
