I went to Norms this morning too get my starter and check the bendix spring. The spring was ok and while I was talking to Norn I asked him what the start was 6 or 12 volt, he answered 6, so I asked hin change it to 12. I think this is my problem ad under the circumstances so does Norm. The timing is good, it starts immediately and I never have to use ether . so we will see. You can bet i am going to keep an eye on it. The starter rebuild with new Armature . 12 volt fields new drive labor $350.00 . I know I can get a new one cheaper but Norm started on it and ordered parts and I couldn't back out. Just part of the fun of owning an old Ferguson Tractor, I guess. Thanks guys for all you comments and help. I put Protronics in Fergie and replaced the Points , that is why it starts fast no kick back. I am going to get a new crank for it though.
