I"m working on the TO-20, and, as posted earlier, the gas tank has some rust in the bottom, and a loose baffle.
I had been planning to clean and recoat the inside, but from what I"ve read in the archives, I need to deal with the loose baffle.
It sounds like the usual method is to cut a hole in the tank to remove the baffle, then weld/solder the hole. (Then clean, re-coat, etc.)
Sparex supplies a tank that is the correct size and shape, with all holes drilled, even for the toolbox. The best price I"ve found for that tank is $210.86, including shipping.
I"m leaning toward replacing the tank, unless there"s a real good reason not to do so.
Also, if I get the new one, should I coat the inside, right off the bat? (I"ll definitely be painting the outside.)
