The 16" is already worn out, the 18" will cut better, also deeper and pull easier for the depth of cut you are getting. At the time they were made some thought that the 18" would pull harder so they would only buy the one with 16" blades but that has been proven wrong. Also the 16" was cheaper so they went for inital price, not thinking they would have to replace the blades twice over the same acres the 18" would last that had a higher inital cost but cheaper in the end to operate. The extra couple of dollars per blade will be well worth it. Just think that the 16" blades are only around anymore for replacement of an 18" that is wore to 17" and got busted. Slightly smaller is better than slightly larger in that case.
