I have acquired an A-BO-22 Disc Harrow along with a 3 point, 2 bottom plow which along with a 1955 TO35, all owned by my grandfather. I am in the process of fixing up the disc. The bearings all appear to be in very good shape and have been able to find some square head bolts to repair the bearing housings. Having downloaded the manuals and parts diagrams I have 2 basic questions.
1. The disc diameters are around 14.5 inches, both the rear smooth and front notched disc. The manuals state 2 sizes available 16 and 18 inch. The 2 center front notched discs are split and I want to replace all 12. Seems like 16 inch would be appropriate. Any reason to look at 18 inch?
2. The downloaded manual states not to run the disc without the scrapers or excess bearing wear will occur. I have scrapers but they only have 4 per gang and are missing 2. I have been unable to locate replacement parts. Admittedly I cannot imagine doing anymore than an acre at a time and they were not mounted when I picked it up. Is there any problem not installing, or at best does anyone know where you can buy replacements?
