It sounds like it was misrepresented big time. Not that it should matter too much, the price you paid should have some bearing on it's condition. If you bought it for say under $1000, you could expect it needs lots of work. If you paid a few thousand, then you could expect it wouldn't need any really major repairs. It is an older machine and you have to realize there is a reason it is being sold. A lot of the time because it needs a lot of money to fix it and isn't worth it to the seller so he gets rid of it. In the process he doesn't want to disclose everything that's wrong because then he might not sell it or at least would have to lower his price. Always best to look before buying though.
