Bought a crawler from steve it arrived last night 2 am hauler was good the crawler was not as described screwed again... called steve this morning and told him and read off a long list of what was wrong with it,his answer was i dont know im not a mechanic. i remember asking him specifically it the motor had any blow-by and was told oh no no blowby this thing has more blowby than old steam loco.. and the 800 hours, it had 800 hours about 9,200 hours ago the hour meter does not work.this thing was riden hard and put away wet some rube goldberg made up some kind of homemade pvc. system for it, cause the blowby is so bad. i really did not want another project. can only speculate on his motives but never again sight unseen if this helps some else avoid this headache fine but i would not deal with him again al

Here are the facts. I represented the dozer exactly as I saw it and what mechanicals I had done to it after I got it. It did not have blow by the limited time I ran it. It had sat in the barn for years so I'm not surprised the hour meter did not work. What would you expect. You can look at the UC and the very limited wear on the blade and see that it did not have 9000 hours on it. You don't buy a Cadillac for a VW price. Sorry your not happy with it because it was not brand new.

STEVE
your right I am sorry.I am sorry that the thing does not meet the rosy description that you painted of it .
there is oil in the coolant i found this out after idling about 5 min the temp rose to 230 degrees, pushed the button for pressure release on radator turned the cap got scalded with coolant took a gallon of water looked at the radiator and it is all clogged with my guess, liquid pig manure and straw mixed with it the radiator was so darned clogged the you couldn't see light through it let alone get air to pass through it. the radiator at one time has kissed the fan blade hard a lot of the cooling fins are flat. the accelerator linkage does not funtion, the choke is not working. the generator is shot near burnt the skin off my hand when it touched to see if it was charging any, it sure isn't doing any thing for the battery. the valve cover is rusted so bad that it is not just surface rust it was scale i actually peeled it off with my fingernail this thing is not the barn queen that you lead me to believe. the levers for the steering i had to pull back almost to my chest to get them to respond and when it did the motor started stalling. i took a 4 ft pry car to the cable on the winch to retract it and it is jammed so tight it wouldn't budge i'm going to have to burn the cable with a torch in several places just to get it off. oh and that lovely rube goldberg pvc set up after i rebuild the motor i'm going to hafta remove it and put it back like it is designed to be. of course the hour meter is shot, the ampmeter isn't showing anything charge or discharge. and the oil pressure gauge takes 30 secs to get up to pressure i just can not wait to drop the oil pan. carb rebuilt?? ha ha the carb does not even respond to adjustments on the needles oh when you shut it off the fuel does pour out of it til the residual pressure is out of the fuel line there are a few more things wrong with it but i think everyone gets the picture Steve i just wish you had the picture when you put your description in the ad "what a barn find" Steve you can find crawlers just like this one in any state in the union.. " uc great"? Steve the edge of the rollers are about 1/2 inch from the edge of the track pins the uc is fair.." hardly used by farmer" Steve i bet the farmer did hardly use it my bet is he dropped dead from a heart-attack when he realized what a gem he had on his hands."paint job would make it shine" Steve if you dropped this thing in a tank full of paint it wouldn't do a thing for it.steve i told you that i needed this this for work around here it wasn't gonna get a paint job and sit in the barn looking like a 2.00 lady of the night it was going to be put to WORK..this thing barely made it to the barn. Steve all was this was obvious Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could have seen all this, imagine what they could have seen with good eyes. I'm sorry Steve i still would not buy anything else from you and i hope nobody else falls into a situation with you i'm going to have to throw good money after bad and fix this thing up and not dwell on it i certainly do not wish you any ill. I invite anyone in the ark. area stop by take a look at this work of wonder and make your own assement of it. al

A lot of the adds in the photo adds are just scammers trying to rip people off. They act stupid,or say they are selling for a friend to get around the truth. That old carb needs adjusted story covers everything from a severe knock to a tranny problem.A couple times i've called on tractors to find that they don't even run. They didn't mention that in the add, they kind of slip it in after a few minutes of bragging about how great it is,but it should be an easy fix.I guess if they told the truth they couldn't sell anything.A lot of tractor sellers have no morals at all.

Bottom line is this.Never buy anything without yourself or a qualified agent that you hire and trust inspects it first.Sellers and buyers almost always have different opinions as to conditions and worth of merchandise.I have been in the same situation as you and i had to ask myself if i had looked first would things have turned out differently? The answer made up my mind for me.Never trust a phone conversation or a photograph on a peice of old iron.

It sounds like it was misrepresented big time. Not that it should matter too much, the price you paid should have some bearing on it's condition. If you bought it for say under $1000, you could expect it needs lots of work. If you paid a few thousand, then you could expect it wouldn't need any really major repairs. It is an older machine and you have to realize there is a reason it is being sold. A lot of the time because it needs a lot of money to fix it and isn't worth it to the seller so he gets rid of it. In the process he doesn't want to disclose everything that's wrong because then he might not sell it or at least would have to lower his price. Always best to look before buying though. Hope you can work something out. Dave

Morals and such are gone these days it say and unfortunately these kinds of people exist however bad you situation is your sarcastic criticism has given me a chuckle i hope you can fix it up without bankrupting yourself good luck,

Sounds like a major difference of opinion. When I buy sight unseen,I really depend on the honesty of the seller,Price also dictates what I expect. If I am buying a $4000 piece of equipement for $1000 "I expect issues".I always try to be 100% honest with the buyer.Up to this point never had an issue with item sold.Had one instance where the gentleman came over and was so nit picky that I asked him to leave=He wanted a tractor(condition) that just rolled off the Ford assembly line in 1950 for $100.Everyone has a different opinion=go look first or you assume the risk. Honesty on everyones part is paramount and sadly thats not a given anymore.Just my $.02 worth
