I would also suspect it broke for a reason. I pull my H in tractor pulls. Its bone stock with low gears and I have pulled till it stalled before in 8000lbs class.
I had to replace mine with a used one from Zach and it works great. My original one had gotten worn. The holes were ovaled out. This created play. I noticed it because it made a bit of noise when I put it in gear and let the clutch out. I'm sure it wouldve broken eventually.
