I'm the one did it, used the O'Reilly's brand in a blue can "Dupli=Color". I sprayed three or four layers, letting it dry a few days each layer then sanding the rough edges off. I like it a whole lot, it really seals and conceals the cracks, prevents pieces falling off, has a really good gripy feel non-slip. Only thing, it is rough, and where you sand it will be slightly different sanded-look compared to the rest black-look. You might try it a few times on a piece of dowel rod to see what it looks like. But I like it a lot.
